Content policy
Last updated 3 October 2026
Draft: this page is awaiting legal review before launch.
Disrupt Social is for arguing about ideas, not attacking people. These rules apply everywhere on the site; each community adds its own, shown on its page.
Not allowed
- Spam: repeated, unsolicited or off-topic promotion.
- Harassment: targeting a person with insults, threats of exposure or pile-ons.
- Hate: attacking people for who they are, such as race, religion, sex or disability.
- Threats of violence, or encouraging violence or self-harm.
- Personal information: someone's address, phone number or private details.
- Content made to mislead, such as fabricated quotes or doctored evidence.
- Manipulating lean votes, for example with several accounts or organised voting campaigns.
Lean labels
In communities that use lean labels, readers decide each post's label. Rate posts honestly. The maths is on How lean labels work.
Reporting
Use Report on any post or comment. Reports go to that community's moderators; threats and personal information also go to the site admins. A post or comment with several open reports is folded until a moderator reviews it.
Moderation
- Moderators can remove posts and comments, citing the rule broken. Removed content shows “[removed by moderators]” and the reason; its author is told why.
- Moderators can lock threads and ban members for 1, 7 or 30 days, or permanently.
- Admins can suspend accounts across the whole site, and freeze or reset lean votes.
- Every moderator action is recorded in the community's public mod log.
